The drink before the meal.
A basic rule as a waiter is to make sure guests have their drinks before their food is served. When guests arrive and sit down, at a fancy á la carte restaurant, offer water immediately when they sit at the table. This is so that the guests never sit empty-handed, as the water is served, the other drink order is taken up. Here,
as a waiter, you can make it easier for yourself and plan. Either take their food order directly after you have served their drinks. If you take both orders at the same time, it is of utmost importance that their drink comes before the food.
