Skip pencil and paper, train your memory

When the waiter takes a food and drink order at the table, you want to have all the attention on the guest, using a paper and pencil breaks the focus from the guest, even if you look down for a few seconds.

This is also true if you are looking at the guest while writing. If you are used to doing two things at the same time, such as looking at guests and writing down their order without looking down at the pad, the guest will perceive that you are not focusing on them.

A tip then is to write down everything after you take the order.Train your memory with two guests then 4 guests and so on. Everything over 8 guests, it is necessary to use a pad and pencil as the orders can be “all over the place”.

This is a part of the guestexperience
